KINESIS® SAVANTTM PROGRAMMABLE KEYPADS
Productivity tools for any system using a PS/2 or USB keyboard
Features:
- SavantTM Keybads are double duty workhorses. Two functions are possible for every key using the layer-toggle feature.
- Up to 480 keystrokes can be assigned to one key from the on-board memory pool. Each key is allocated 3 characters at all times.
- Easy to use relegendable keycaps with removable clear plastic covers
- Low-force, long-life mechanical keyswitches.
- Built-in pass-through connector for your regular PS/2 keyboard, or Daisy-chain with another keypad or programmable foot switch.
A Programmable Keypad increases your productivity while decreasing your effort and works with virtually any computer using PS/2 or USB keyboards. This item plugs into the PC (or USB) keyboard port, so think of it as a programmable, 20-key keyboard on the side. A regular PS/2 (or USB) keyboard is required to reprogram the keypad but otherwise it can be used all by itself. You can even use it with a Sun workstation or Macintosh computer if you have the appropriate Kinesis interface box.
STAND ALONE USE
Once it is programmed, you don't even need a keyboard any more if you have a special application. If your computer
application can get by with just 20 keys, plug in a Savant keypad and
your computer will boot up as if a complete keyboard is attached.
Any keystroke or sequence of keystrokes (macros containing up to 480 keystrokes) from your PC keyboard can be stored in a single keypad key. Once the memory pool of 450 keystrokes is used up, each additional key has 3 key actions reserved for it.
ON-BOARD MEMORY
Non-volatile memory chips inside the Programmable Keypad store all your key actions. No battery or
software or external power supply is required! Programming is done directly from
an attached PC-compatible keyboard, so it is independent of the operating
system.
The Programmable Keypad attaches easily to any PC-compatible computer or to a Kinesis' Interface II for Mac or Sun. The standard keyboard connector and adapter cables are used. Your regular PC keyboard (or another Programmable Keypad or Programmable Foot Switch) attaches to a second connector on the end of the keypad's main cable.
COMPATIBILITY
The Programmable Keypad is basically a programmable PS/2 keyboard. Thus the product is compatible with virtually any
computer that uses a PS/2-compatible keyboard.
SPECIAL CASES:
Silicon Graphics systems that use PS/2 keyboards require a special version of
the Savant keypad. This SGI version will also work with most PC's.
